Day 1-Beijing
Today was a jam packed day of sight seeing and eating! We enjoyed a somewhat American breakfast at the hotel and were able to meet many of the other families traveling with our group. There are 28 families here with America World...almost 70 people all together. Everyone we have met has been very nice and it has been neat to hear about each of their children. The children being adopted range from 9 months-13 years and most have special needs...it is very touching. Chris and Debby are a couple from Snoqualmie (just 45 minutes from us) and our little girls are just a week apart. We can't wait for them to meet! Another couple is here with their adorable chinese daughter Ling and she just loves Kevin. All day she wanted to sit by him and hold his hand...I think that was the highlight of his day!
Our first stop today was Tiananmen Square & The Forbidden city...it was VERY hot and crowded. Someone said it was 107 degrees and I believe it! After that we went and had a Chinese lunch and then went to the Summer Palace. This is a big tourist attraction and just today they were expecting 50,000 visitors. Following that we went to a silk factory and got to see how silk is made. We picked Kamdynn up an adorable traditional Chinese silk dress. Next we did a quick drive by the 2008 Olympic arena and then went to a Duck dinner. Kevin loved it (I just ate the rice and vegetables)!
It was a great day! We are looking forward to visiting the Great Wall tomorrow, but more than anything we are anxious for Monday to get here!
