Day 12-Guangzhou

Today our guides went to our Consulate appointment for us to verify our adoption documents. We had to stay in our room for several hours just in case they needed to reach us with any questions. While we waited we could tell that Kamdynn still wasn't feeling great so we gave her some Benadryl and after a short time, she was out. This was a good practice run for the airplane ride home and we now know that Benadryl works for her! She got really sleepy and slept for a few hours. A couple of times she sat up like she was going to wake up, but she could barely keep her eyes open and went back to sleep...it was hard not to laugh! We received a call from Amy around noon to come pick up our adoption certificate and she gave us the "okay" to leave our room. For lunch Kevin and I shared the Marriott burger (several of our friends recommended it) and it was well worth the $15.00 that it cost. In the afternoon we met a few friends in the lobby to head back to Shamian Island to do some more shopping. Our taxi ride was once again an adventure because it was not communicated correctly by our hotel on where to take us. Our driver spoke not one word of english and we had to show him our hotel phone number to call and be told the correct place to go. After an hour (it should have taken 15 minutes) we finally made it to our destination. We got our "shop on" (as Ali would say) and by the time we were done we had more bags then we had hands for. My favorite shop was called A Gift From China, where all profit helps China's Orphans. They had by far had the cutest stuff, including Chinese clothing for American Girl dolls. I can't complete this post without sharing their website: www.agiftfromchina.com. We also found a store that sold North Face (the fake stuff...that looks real) and after the girls at the store dug through piles of jackets, we were able to find a few that we liked. I probably could have shopped all night, but we had plans to meet our friends at Lucy's for dinner. Lucy's is a hot spot for "American" food and Kevin enjoyed a burger (again) and I had a chocolate shake and shared grilled cheese with Kamdynn. The food and company were great!
