Day 10-Guangzhou

This morning we got Kamdynn in her swimsuit before breakfast so we could head straight to the pool after we ate. We learned real quick that swim diapers are pointless...Kamdynn peed right through it while sitting in the high chair. I took her up to the room to change and the good news is we got a a call from Nana and Papa so we were able to Skype with them for a bit. After getting her all ready for the pool again, we went down to the pool only to find out that it didn't open until 11:30, so we had to scratch that idea. Kamdynn ended up taking an early nap, which worked out good since we had plans for the afternoon. Our guides took our group shopping on Shamian Island (it is surrounded by two rivers). This is a popular shopping area that caters to Americans and adoptive families. There is a hotel on the island called The White Swan that many adoption agencies use to accommodate their families. It is a beautiful 5-star hotel, but the guest rooms are nothing special so we are glad to be at the Marriott. We did stop by The White Swan to get pictures on one of the famous "red couches." We have been told that if you come here to adopt you MUST do this...so we did! As you can see by the pictures we got a little "camera happy" with Kamdynn...she was too cute! The shopping was fun on the island, it is much like Mexico in the sense that you can barter. When Kevin starts to barter he completely stresses me out, but I'll admit he did get us some good deals. He'll start to leave if they aren't going for the price he wants and on his way out the door they'll agree at the last minute. We ended up purchasing a stroller because it only cost a little more than what we were paying to rent one from the hotel. We had fun shopping for gifts for the boys and family back home and Kamdynn was SO good. She had Pringles for lunch (we are far from "parents of the year") and that bought us some more shopping time. We didn't hit all the shops so we are planning to go again in a few days. After dinner at McDonald's (so much for loosing weight on this trip) we took Kamdynn swimming and she loved it. She still screams every time I put her in the bathtub, but I think she liked the pool because Daddy was holding her. She is in bed now and is out like a light. She has had a runny nose all day and we can tell that she isn't feeling great. We aren't sure if she is working on teeth or if her shots are starting to effect her. Hopefully she will be feeling better tomorrow.

Hi Stephanie- Welcome to the Zhangshu family! We adopted our daughter, Sofia BiCao, from Zhangshu last August. You daughter is just beautiful and it seems like she is adjusting just fine. Enjoy the rest of your trip and if you are looking for some good Thai food try the Cow and the Bridge (near The White Swan). Safe travels to you and welcome to cloud nine!
